Town vs Gown: In Pictures

Gown win 7-5 in an enthralling evening.

A packed and raucous Guildhall saw some spectacular bouts of boxing on Saturday night.

The atmosphere was electric for the majority of the event, with most of those representing CUABC boxing for the very first time.

There was a lengthy delay in proceedings with two bouts remaining, as boxer Tosin Buraimoh was taken to hospital for exhaustion. The President, Billy Fitton, did well to encourage the significantly reduced crowd that remained, not least because the well-stocked bar had by then closed.

Sahrah ‘The Hulk’ Hogan was named ‘Gown Boxer of the Night’ on account of her dominant display over Essex University ABC’s Kelli Noorlind immediately after the interval.

Crowd favourite Ope Odueye stole the night against Royal Engineers ABC, winning unanimously by technical knockout. The boxer, who counts Justin Bieber’s ‘What do you mean?’ amongst his ‘get pumped’ songs, beat Gregg Hedge in under a minute to the delight of the home crowd.

CUABC should now be feeling pretty confident ahead of the upcoming Varsity match. If you weren’t there, you missed a cracker. But do not fear – The Tab was at The Guildhall, with Luke Naylor-Perrott snapping the very best of the action.

Representing CUABC on the night: Omba Kumwenda, Ajeet Athwal, James Claridge, Ollie Smith, Sid Prabhu-Naik, Jamil Shah-Foridi, Piers Dawson, Sahrah Hogan, Aidan Dobney, Tosin Buraimoh, Ope Odueye and Rob Liu.
