Festival of the week: CAMDEN ROCKS

The Cribs will be headlining the £35 single-day festival amongst an extensive bill of other well-known and up-and-coming artists.

Camden Rocks takes place TOMORROW 4th June – and there’s no better way to celebrate the end of exams.

The festival is now in its fifth year and showcases a variety of over 200 bands across 20 music venues within Camden.

WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR

The Cribs – The indie-rock sibling trio have an impressive discography of six albums. Their infectiously catchy single Men’s Needs reached #17 in the UK charts and won the 2013 Outstanding Contribution to Music NME Award.

Carl Barat & the Jackals  – Libertines’ member Carl Barat will perform with his band featuring singles off their 2015 debut album Let it Reign, including the indie hit Glory Days.

The Carnabys – Debbie Harris (Blondie) has termed the Carnabys as “the best support band {they’ve} ever had” – they’re also appearing at Christ’s May Ball.

Sisteray – This Camden based four piece Rock band are influenced by the likes of the Buzzcocks, the Smiths and the Libertines, and have released two energetic future-floor filling tracks – definitely one to watch!

The Kings Parade – Just go to tell everyone around you that you walk up and down King’s Parade every day…

Yuck – Likened by critics to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, this new shoe-gaze trip-hop band will be sure to float your mind away.

Moses – A fast up-and-coming alternative rock band sound to be something special. The Tab Music are extremely excited to hear just what this band can do live.

Of course this is just a taster of the 200+ bands appearing across Camden on June 4th. You can either plan who to see, using the stage times here, or just wander the streets and pop in to a venue when something catches your ear – get out there and discover undercover gems released for the night. The fun of Camden doesn’t end after the headliners either. IF you’re still standing after 12 hours of live music, make your way to Camden Rocks Club @ the Underworld (£10/ticket) and rave away to Camden’s best DJs until 3am.

Tickets to access all venues and artists playing Camden Rocks can be purchased here for a mere £35. Your ticket is then exchanged for a wristband, allowing you to roam freely. Getting to the heart of Camden takes less than 1hr 30m from Cambridge via train and will allow you to forget the hectic stress of university life for one night and memories lasting beyond.
