EXCLUSIVE: Fitzwilliam Winter Ball headliners revealed
There’ll be something for everyone on the night
The Tab can exclusively reveal that Will and the People and Byron the Aquarius will be co-headlining Fitzwilliam’s 2016 Winter Ball.
Both acts, together with many others, will perform at ‘Suspect’, the 1920s murder mystery themed ball on December 1st.
Will and the People are a British alternative four piece who formed in 2010 after meeting at Glastonbury festival. The band combine rock with reggae, whilst also hinting at ska and punk influences within their songs. Their tracks are lively and easy to bob-along to, and are guaranteed to get Fitz crowd moving.
They released their self-titled debut album in May 2012, which was a hit in the Dutch album charts, reaching #28. Since then they’ve released two further albums and played a number of festivals worldwide, and are currently touring the UK.
Byron the Aquarius may be thought of as quite the opposite of Will and the People. The 27 year old musician, born Byron Blaylock, is a House artist with a hint of Jazz thrown in for good measure. In 2010, Byron signed a production deal with Eminem producer Denaun Porter.
However, at the studio, Byron realised he wanted to make his own music and returned home to Alabama to pick up jazz studies at Morehouse University and Jacksonville State University. Last year, Byron released a ten track solo album on BBE entitled Planets of Love, and in April Byron dropped a project entitled “Gone Today Here TMRW”.
The contrast between Will and the People and Byron the Aquarius is indicative of the range of music that will be available on the night, catering to all kinds of tastes. So, whatever king of music genre you’re into, Fitzwilliam’s Winter Ball guarantees that you will have an unforgettable night, and perhaps expand your mind to different genres, or even pick up a new favourite band.
Tickets for the Fitzwilliam College Winter Ball 2016 were priced at £85 for a strandard ticket (+£10 for queue jump) or £110 for a dining ticket. Tickets are no longer available.
