University of Cambridge ranks third in The Times World University Rankings

The University of Cambridge has ranked joint third in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, sharing third place with Stanford University.  The University of Oxford ranked first, with Harvard closely following in second.

Oxford has been ranked at the top for the seventh year in a row, whilst Cambridge increased their ranking by two places from last year, moving up from fifth to third.

US universities still dominate the top 10, with Cambridge, Oxford, and Imperial College London being the only UK universities that made the cut.

Consisting of 1,799 different universities from around the world, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings this year are currently the biggest and most diverse rankings available.

The universities mentioned are ranked using 13 performance indicators, giving an insight into their performance in areas such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The University of Cambridge gained an overall score of 94.8, with scores of 90.9 for teaching, 99.5 for research, and 95.8 for international outlook.
