A Note from the Editors

Welcome, one and all, to The Tab.

If you’re a totally new reader, you’ve found your way to accessing student news, sport, fashion, features, debate and culture faster than ever before. So slap yourself on the back for that, and have a peruse of the paper: that’s what it’s there for.

If you’re an old hand, welcome back. I expect you’ve got a few questions for us. Questions like “what happened to the Drop?”, “why’s the layout different?” and “why is the water pressure in most of the Forum’s drinking fountains so pathetically low?”

For that last one, I’ll get back to you. But the first two are easy enough for me to take on the spot. Why the name change? As you may or may not know, the Exeter Drop was the third newspaper to be started up by the Tab media group, following the Cambridge Tab and the Durham One. Following the success of these three papers, more have sprouted up over unis throughout the country over the summer. From Newcastle to Nottingham, London to Norwich, there are Tabs everywhere: and so to make us consistent with what is now a national brand, we changed the name.

We’ve also switched service provider in terms of how we upload our content to the site, hence the swanky new layout.
