Exeter’s Girls With Balls

Lucy Burton gives the Uni’s netballers a healthy Tab plug

Here at Exeter, it isn’t just the boys who know how to handle their balls. Exeter University Netball club has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, signing up a record 220 members during Freshers’ week alone. Their taster sessions proved to be a roaring success, with over a hundred girls of all abilities turning up to have a go.

Returning captain Clare Jones holds high hopes for the netball season this year. As an all-inclusive club, Netball promises to create as many non-BUCs teams as there are members, ensuring that everyone who wants to will get the chance to play in a team.

The Sports Park is currently undergoing an £8 million investment programme, which holds exciting prospects for the Netball girls.

The building works have seen the addition of a semi-permanent bubble over the six outdoor netball courts as part of the ‘Phase One’ developments.

While these girls may take play on the court seriously, they also know how to play in Timepiece – where weekly socials are overseen by this year’s Social Secs Lucy Singleton and Indigo Hull. If you’re keen to put test your ball handling skills, it’s not too late to sign up.
