Ruggers Get Rail Link

Council plans to build new train station in Exeter.

Rugby Varsity is about to become a whole lot easier for students to get to.

A new station is set to be built near Exeter Chief’s Sandy Park rugby ground.

The new station should be open next year

Part of the government’s New Station Fund, Newcourt – as it will be called – is one of four stations across the UK to be unveiled and is set to cost a whopping 1.5 million.

Newcourt has been a specific area of housing expansion and the population is set to rise to around 7,000, giving need for the station.

The station will feature on the Exmouth branch line between Digby, Sowton and Topsham and is set to open before the end of 2014.

Trains are expected to run every half an hour and will mean getting to varsity will be quicker so pre-lash can last those few E.G’s longer!
