Student Smuggles Drugs in Underwear to Exeter

A 21 year-old student was caught smuggling over £2,000 worth of heroin and cocaine in her underwear to Exeter.

Soukena Mohammed was searched by a female police officer during the incident last February. £1200 worth of heroin in 68 wraps and £1000 worth of crack cocaine in 41 wraps was discovered.

Mohammed, of Hackney, London, denies possession with intent to supply, claiming that she didn’t know what she was carrying, and was acting under pressure from gang members in North London.

She said that she was scared of the reputation of the gang members, but there was no threat of violence and she was expecting a reward to carry the drugs into Devon.

Miss Emily Pitts, prosecuting, said the facts of the case were clear and the jury only needed to decide if Mohammed was acting under duress.

She said: “Because of the men concerned and their reputation she agreed to carry the package. She says she asked what was in it and was told she did not need to know.

“She also told police she had expected to be rewarded. She says she was acting under duress because of threats she was subjected to.”
