After her visit to Exeter just two years ago to open the Forum, Her Majesty is at it again by honouring one of Exeter’s most prominent historians, Dr Todd Gray.

On Friday 14th March, Dr Gray was invited to attend his investiture at Buckingham Palace to receive his award from Lizzie herself.

Dr Todd has been a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter since 1988 and was nominated for his outstanding contribution to research in local Devonshire history.

He said “I am overwhelmed by this honour and delighted that the heritage community of Devon is being highlighted by it. The study of Devon’s history is mostly undertaken on a volunteer basis for local charities and it has been a great honour to be involved with them.”

Professor Andrew Thorpe, a historian and Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer said:“There can’t be a single Devon historian of whatever status who does not know the name of Todd Gray, and his MBE is richly deserved.”
