Exeter slides back into top 10 in Guardian uni rankings

We’ve beaten Loughborough, UCL and LSE in the latest league table

Exeter has risen three spots since last year to ninth best uni in the country overall in the 2016 Guardian university league tables.

Not only this, but we’ve beaten our rivals Loughborough by two places and have swiftly bumped LSE out of the top 10.

Exeter also dominated the subject league tables.

The lovely lefties at the Guardian said we’re the fourth best uni to study History and seventh for English.

And sports scientists and bioscientists can rejoice in ranking as the second best uni in the country for their subjects.

Humanities has once again proven to be our strongest subject in the league tables, but we haven’t fared too badly in social sciences either, with Politics and Philosophy sitting pretty firmly in the top 10.

Theologians will also be happy to know that they are studying at the second best place for their subject in the UK, second only St Andrews.

Although Bath may have slipped ahead of us in the South West, we’re way ahead of Bristol at the 35th spot, and even further ahead of poor Plymouth, which has found itself 87th in the country.

The league tables rank unis with a Guardian score based on the combined factors of student satisfaction (according to the National Student Survey), student to staff ratio, average spending per student, entry tariffs, and graduate career prospects.

Keen on reaping the benefits of these new rankings, English second year Corrie Gold said: “This is great news, especially when it’s so close to job hunting season.”
