Guild election voting opens today

You will be asked to vote lots of times

Voting for the new Guild student officers opens today, with 14 candidates out to secure your vote.

Last year Harry Anderson pipped favourite James Coe to first place in a surprise outcome, with Alex Ferguson and dark horse Emma Sims making up the student officer team.

Harry, Emma and Alex are on the hunt for re-election this year, with the remaining 12 hopefuls being Xinxin Cao, Rosie O’Donnell, Becky Garnault, Will Harding, Grace Edwards, Isaac Lual, Jack Stanley, Alex Bjerkholt, Fred Wongraven, Sadiq Haruna and Hayfa Ali.

Is your future President here?

After attracting the largest Guild election turnout nationwide in 2013, a hugely disappointing 11 per cent of students took part last year.

Problems with voter registration and apathy across campus in general meant the vast majority had no say in the result.

The Guild will be hoping for much greater participation this time around, with this year’s candidates making bold promises in their manifestos.

Voting closes at 2pm,  Friday 20 March, with results being announced at the results night in the Guild courtyard that evening.
