Modo bouncer stabbed in neck

He is still in hospital

A vicious attack has left a bouncer in hospital after he was stabbed in the neck.

A punter allegedly knifed the doorman because he was refused entry to Modo, in Concert Square.

The bouncer was then taken to Royal Liverpool Hospital where he is being treated for a serious injury.

The incident occurred around 10pm on Saturday night, and it is believed the attacker had been with a group of men who had been turned away earlier that evening.

One of the men later returned to Modo which is when the assault happened.

Detective Inspector Lee Wilkinson said: “This was a vicious assault on the doorman and medical staff who are treating him have said he is extremely lucky and this could have been a lot worse.

“We believe the offender was one of a group of men who had and altercation with door staff earlier in the night and had been refused entry.

“Before leaving it is believed the offender had made threats to the staff. He returned at about 10pm and stabbed the doorman in the neck.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the earlier incident, or the assault, to contact us so we can find the offender.”

The offender’s description is white, 5ft 11in tall in his early 20s with a very heavy build and short light brown hair.

On the night of the attack he was wearing blue shorts, a navy blue t-shirt, a zipped hoodie and black trainers.

The last place he was reportedly seen was Bold Street.

Anyone who has any information that could assist the police is asked to contact Liverpool CID on 151 777 6065 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111.
