The Liverpool Foxes Cheerleading squads have released a new naked calendar

Are they the new Warwick rowers?

The Liverpool Foxes cheerleading squads have released a 2017 naked calendar to raise money for charity, which sees the squads posing on campus and in Sefton Park in barely-there attire and some fabulous fancy-dress.

Proceeds from the calendar will go partially to reducing the membership fees of the Foxes, to encourage women to join, and also to the charity ‘Women in Sport’ which promotes gender equality in sport and encourages women to lead healthy lifestyles.

Sophie, a third year cheerleader, explained that the squads wanted to show in the calendar that women should be proud of their bodies, whatever their shape: “We wanted to do a calendar this year for several reasons. One was that part of the money goes to lowering our club fees so that students from all walks of life can join without having to worry about the cost. The money also goes to the charity Women in Sport, which promotes gender equality to help the health and wellbeing of young women across the UK.

“However we also wanted to do a calendar in particular as this year we had a lot of girls approaching us at the freshers fair with no confidence in themselves or their bodies and asking if they were ‘too fat’ to join cheerleading. By producing a calendar I hope we can show all women out there that they shouldn’t be ashamed of their bodies and that everyone is beautiful, no matter what size or shape they are.

“The photos are not being airbrushed in any way either, so that we can promote natural beauty. I’m really proud of all the girls who took part – their contribution means they have not only helped our club and charity but have also helped to promote body confidence among young women, something the club feels very strongly about.”

Katie Fradley, one of the cheerleaders who took part in the shoot, explained that the body confidence message was also imbedded during the making of the calendar: “During the shoot everyone was so lovely and supportive of each other which really captured the message of confidence which we are trying to promote.”

President of the Foxes, Natalie Carpenter said: “We were really pleased with how well the calendar went and the amount of girls who wanted to get involved! The finished shots look amazing so we’d like to thank Dominic Stevenson for working with us”

The Foxes’ calendars are on sale until this Friday 25th at 11.30am. You can buy one for £6, or three for £15. To buy a calendar, head to The Foxes’ Facebook page for more information on where to send your money.
