Liverpool to go into strictest tier of new lockdown system

Pubs, bars, gyms are all expected to close for six months

Liverpool City council has been told that the City region will be going into the strictest tier of the UK’s new lockdown system due to rising coronavirus cases.

With Liverpool’s current cases of 600 per 100,000 individuals, BBC has predicted that all pubs will be forced to shut in the new lockdown restrictions which will be announced in Monday’s speech.

Further predictions include pubs which serve “substantial food” will be allowed to stay open, alongside universities and schools.

Being in the strictest tier of the new restrictions will mean a complete ban on households mixing both indoors and outdoors.

ITV’s Political Correspondent has claimed that restaurants are likely to stay open, but pubs, gyms, casinos, and betting shops will be closed to abide by the new guidelines.

These restrictions will be reviewed monthly, and the government stress that these restrictions are still being finalised with local leaders and that these could change.
