How to access mental health support at UoL

Because nobody should struggle alone

So far, this year isn’t turning out how most of it thought it would. When we went home in March most of us were under the impression that we would all still have a great summer and could just start afresh in September, and well…. here we are.

Almost all of us have had summer plans cancelled, year abroad and placements called off. Not only have we been restricted seeing our friends in university but we are now facing the prospect of tighter restrictions as we head into Christmas. With all this in mind, it’s understandable that people are struggling. So here are ways how you can access the mental health facilities at UoL:

Single Session Therapy

The university currently has a counselling service in-place called Single Session Therapy (SST), designed to address any issues students might be experiencing in one session, however, more sessions are available for students to do need extra support or present more complex needs.

To access these services contact either [email protected] or call 0151 795 1000 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday and speak to a Wellbeing Advisor. Alternatively, you can speak to your Learning and Teaching Support Officers (LTSO) and ask for a referral. Due to the pandemic, these appointments are currently being held either or the phone or through Microsoft Teams.

Self-Help information on their website

The university also has a Self-Help information section, available on their website. The section lists a range of mental health issues and is designed to give you ideas on how to stop problems from escalating further

All the support given by the university is confidential, with all the mental health facilities being summarised in the Confidentiality Information leaflet.
