Manchester medic runs for Miss Manchester

UoM medicine student Lucy Trevor is a finalist in the ‘Miss Manchester’ pageant

A UoM medic made it all the way to the finals of the Miss Manchester 2014 competition.

Lucy Trevor, a fourth year medical student battled it out against thirty three other finalists fighting for the Miss Manchester crown.

The competition took place on Thursday at the Palace Hotel, where the ladies strutted their stuff in front of some of Manchester’s finest celeb judges including Chelsee Healey and former Hear’Say member, Kym Marsh.

But she narrowly missed out on the top spot – our medic lost out to Codie Hayward, who snapped up the crown after spending just £3.50 on her look for the final.

Lucy told Messenager Newspapers that “the Miss Manchester pageant is the perfect platform to help me contribute to my local area”.

The competition is committed to giving back – the pageant not only crowns one lucky lady, but also supports a number of related charities. These include two children’s charities, ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, ‘Variety the Children’s Charity’ and local community charity, ‘Forever Manchester’.

As a finalist in the pageant, Lucy also said she “would love to be a role model for young girls who look to public figures for guidance and security”.

She explained that she is “not a model” and she’s interested in challenging current current body-image perceptions, thanks to modern day female ideologies.
