Megan states that she was waiting at the till for her order, when she noticed a man who was approaching a lot of people and engaging them in conversation. She says he then approached her and all was fine until he asked where she was from. This then led to a change in his manner, and he reacted viciously.

Megan told the M.E.N:  “I noticed him talking to people when I went up to get my chicken nuggets. As soon as he asked where I was from and I said I was from London, he just switched.

“He started swearing at me and giving me abuse. He called me a fucking southerner, saying I was fucking tramps and that he hated Londoners. I stepped back and told him I was backing off from the situation.”

The ordeal wasn’t over, and when Megan retreated to the disabled toilets, the man went over and punched her in the face: “He must have knocked me unconscious for a minute or so. There was blood pouring from my nose. I was just really shocked.

“I didn’t know what had happened. I didn’t expect to get punched in the face like that. When I found my friend she couldn’t believe it either. It all happened so quickly.”

Megan described her attacker as around 5ft 4ins, white and with a Salford accent. Megan wants to stress that other people need to be aware of this attacker.

The GMP are currently investigating the incident. A spokesperson said: “Shortly after 3am on Sunday 20th of November, police were called to a restaurant on Cross Street, Salford to reports that a women had been assaulted.
