Breaking: University of Manchester lecturers will continue to strike after rejecting UUK’s offer

The decision was made this morning

The University of Manchester UCU has made the unanimous decision to reject UUK's pension offer this morning, meaning that lecturer strikes will continue.

Meetings took place at universities across the UK today to vote on a new pension offer from UUK, which would have meant the strikes ending tomorrow.

According to protesters on the picket lines, the offer consisted of a £7,000 loss for lecturers, rather than the initial pension offer of a £10,000 loss.

However, many university unions taking part in the strikes have been rejecting the offers this morning, meaning there will not yet be an end to the strikes and exam period could be affected.

As of 11.30 this morning, it has been reported that 21 universities have rejected the offer, and more are suspected to follow.
