Here are all the best places to go in Newcastle this pancake day
Flippin’ brilliant
Pancake day – the Tuesday we wait for every year.
You could nip to Tesco or Waitrose and buy some flour and eggs and challenge your housemates to a pancake flipping competition. Tesco are offering gluten and wheat free pancakes working out at around £1.60 for six – a pretty sweet deal.
Or, you could just admit defeat and go out somewhere.
Whether you're a Nutella girl or a lemon and sugar kinda guy, there is something out there for everyone. Take our quiz and find out what your choice of topping says about you.
We've done a handy round up of some of the best places in Newcastle you can head for a sweet sweet treat.
Holy Hobo
The Holy Hobo are selling angelic stacks of pancakes with butter and maple syrup for just £3.95 all day. You can add a range of toppings from Nutella, blueberries and bacon for an extra £1 – an absolute bargain if you ask us. If that deal isn’t good enough then maybe having 2 for 1 on all of their drinks all day might persuade you.
The Dispensary Coffee House
Found conveniently below The View accommodation, The Dispensary Coffee House is laying on a number of Pancake Day exclusive menu items. At £7.50 a stack, these look like they have fallen straight from heaven.
They're doing a pancake day exclusive menu to meet your sugary needs and the options sound unreal. Instagram is calling with toppings such as Kinder Bueno, Mint Aero and Lotus Biscoff.
As if this all couldn't get any better, they also offer vegan pancakes and 10% off for students!
Café Bar One
Head to Café Bar One on Jesmond Road for a huge selection of homemade American style pancakes with gorgeous toppings! Served all day, get yourself a stack of pancakes and choose from Nutella and ice cream, maple syrup and bacon, peanut butter and jelly or banana, yoghurt and granola for just £7.50!
If what you crave isn’t displayed on the menu, you can switch it up and create your own! Too good to miss.
Crepeaffaire
Not only do the crepes from here look delicious but you can also save your dollar with a huge 15% student discount.
Choose from a huge range of fillings – think Ferrero Rocher, Reese's and apple crumble. For the edgy ones of you out there, go for a vegan BBQ chicken crepe or an all day breakfast – the opportunities are endless.
For those of you that go to hard at Club Trop or Digi, they're on Deliveroo so you can get the goodness delivered straight to your door!
Jam Jar
After the success of last year’s ‘Pancake Apocalypse’ Jam Jar are hosting another pancake-themed extravaganza. Whilst a stack of eight American style pancakes priced at £11 sounds a bit steep, it’s all worth it for the free sauce and topping (there’s 20+ options to choose from)!
If pancakes aren’t enough, or if they’re not your cup of tea, Jam Jar will also be serving Milkshakes, with flavours such as Kinder Bueno and Galaxy Caramel.
Best of all, this pancake day Jam Jar are hosting a food challenge: eat ten pancakes in ten minutes to win a free meal for four people. No one in three years has managed it but maybe this year will bring the winds of change. Either way, we know you want to give it a go.

The Botanist are renowned for their hanging kebabs and they’ve stepped up the game especially for pancake day by bringing us The Hanging PANCAKE Kebab! For one day only, you can get your hands on this Instagrammable sweet treat delight and it’s served with either chocolate brownies and chocolate gooey sauce or strawberries and marshmallows with lemon drizzle… it’s genuinely to die for and not one to miss!
