Drama Preview: The Tempest

A second storm hits Norwich this week as UEA’s Drama Society puts on The Tempest.

This Shakespearean classic will be Drama Soc’s first production of the year, revamped to embrace the play’s magic, mischief and romance. The performance is packed with music, heart, and wickedly good performances from UEA students.

For those who dodged it at GCSE, the play is set on a remote island which is inhabited by Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, and his young daughter Miranda. When Prospero creates a storm to shipwreck his usurping brother, he and the few other survivors of the wreck rock up on the mystical island. To paraphrase from there, stuff goes down.

If you’re not busy celebrating Halloween/unleashing your inner-Caliban this weekend, grab a ticket and come along to see a dynamic and modern interpretation of a cracking play.

The Tempest will be performed Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week at UEA’s Drama Studio. Buy tickets online, at the Box Office, or on the door. Check the Facebook page for more information.
