UEA women’s rugby team has released a naked calendar for 2017
The profits are going towards Cancer Research and Scope
UEA Women’s Rugby Team have released their own naked calendar to raise money for the two charities Cancer Research and Scope. The project came to light in order to raise funds before three of the girls run marathons in aid of the two charities next year.
Joely Sockett, second year Politics and International Relations student, and Anne Lane, fourth year Pharmacy, are both running the Brighton Marathon in April. Lizzie Crowe, second year English Literature student, will be running the London marathon which is also in April.
The calendar features around 25 members of the rugby team, however Joely states that almost everyone was involved in its production in some way: “Most of the club was involved in their own different ways.
“Whether organising props, submitting ideas for different photos and themes, or taking the photos if they weren’t being photographed themselves. We like to feel everyone was involved in their own way.”
The calendar was organised by second year Psychology student Caitlin Maddox, who says the calendar is “such a great way to not only raise the body confidence of the girls but to raise money for two amazing causes that are close to everyone’s hearts.
“We do everything we can to support our girls, whether heping them raise money for their marathons or showing them that their bodies are perfect.”
The calendars cost £10 each, which Joely points out is “only 80p a month!” and those interested in helping the rugby team’s cause can look out for a stall in the Hive in the build up to Christmas.
