Exclusive: The SU are introducing an A-List VIP area and V.I.Pre’s

Welcome to your new and improved Saturday nights, where the A-List will never be the same – but don’t worry, it’s going to be even better.

The SU will now hold two new events on Saturday night that will take place before the A-List has even started, the V.I.Pre’s and the A-List V.I.P.

As of yet it is unclear when exactly these changes will be introduced.

The UEA SU Union commented on the developments of the SU campaigns with Democracy Officer Jack Robinson saying: "The SU belongs to students – and three things were highlighted 
as consistent student questions last terms- could we do a quiet(er) room on a Saturday; Could we do offers if people wanted to do pre’s on campus (for example for birthday’s); and could we refresh the music policy.

"Through our student managers and student led licensed trade board we’ve put in place V.I.Pree’s and a new VIP area, and we are crowdsourcing a better music policy for the main room.”

So what exactly do these new events entail?

A-List VIP:

The Red Bar will not close at 11pm on a Saturday night (with food being served until 10pm)

This will then be cleaned and turned into a V.I.P area for the LCR’s A-List event, opening latest midnight. This area will be roped off from the other sections of the bar and will operate on a first come first served basis. It will serve in glasses whilst also offering services for spirits, bottles and bubbly. 

There will be offers regarding premium drinks deals for the likes of Absolute, Bombay Sapphire and Havana.

V.I.Pre's:

From now on every Saturday A-List will open its doors at 11pm (not the usual 10:30pm) Between 9pm – 11pm the Blue bar will be open for a new event called the V.I.Pre’s, with the A-List following afterwards.

Customers will get a £3 entry, which includes entry to the V.I.Pre’s and entry into the A-List event. Along with DJ’s there will be new and improved drink deals for Saturday night especially, think £2 snakebites, VK’s and shots and £1 shooters!

Last entry for V.I.Pre’s is 10:30pm, A-List entry will open at 11pm. Tickets will be available to buy online or on the door. Limited amount of around 250 people, Blue Bar capacity is 400, so you better be up and out the door earlier than ever for the best drinks, deals and dance moves.

There are also offers and packages that include tickets, drinks and cake (if it’s your birthday) booth reservation and merch. All packages save you a minimum of £3 per person for a cheap package, and up to £10.50 a person for the ultimate A-List experience.

The UEA SU’s Jack Robinson added: “Elections for the next Development Board will open after Easter and I’d encourage anyone with ideas to get involved."
