Livewire’s Jailbreak returns to UEA
How far from campus will 2018’s teams manage to get with no money, Asia again perhaps?
The time of year is upon us again for UEA Livewire’s charity Jailbreak. The concept is the same as always: to get as far away from campus as possible, whilst not spending any money on transport.
Last year’s pair of Jailbreak winners set the bar pretty high by succeeding in getting all the way to Dubai, and raising a not-so-pesky £1,160 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Overall, a total of £10,500 was raised for the charity by UEA’s 2017 participants.

Last year's teams setting off from the sqaure, Dubai awaits
This year the event will be raising money for the charity Papyrus, which works to prevent suicide amongst young people, the leading cause of young deaths in the UK. The charity provides confidential help and support and campaigns for national policy change regarding mental health.
Livewire will be broadcasting the full 48 hour extravaganza from the library, tracking the progress of the teams and raising money from campus. Hopefully it is not too much to expect to see UEA students again foray from the square into such exotic lands as seen previously, with destinations including Italy and Germany.
The event will take place during the first week of the Easter break, Friday 16th – Sunday 18th March.
If you would like to take part in the event, signups are taking place on Thursday 15th February in Bookable Room 5 at 5pm. Attendance to this event is compulsory if you wish to take part. Participants are also required to join this Facebook group.
