West Street Live offer Nick Clegg a job as a DJ
‘Get in touch Nick, welcome to the Wussle family’
West Street Live has offered Nick Clegg a job being a DJ, as 2017 goes from strange to outright surreal.
It comes after Clegg lost his seat in the Sheffield Hallam constituency to Labour’s Jared O’Mara on Friday morning.
Jared is probably the first ever Member of Parliament to have links to the iconic Sheffield venue.
Described as having a role in co-founding it, he has been a DJ, booker and “general essential cog” of WSL.
In a widely shared Facebook status, West Street Live have said: “One of the founding stones of our wee venue is leaving us. Jared our DJ, booker and general essential cog is leaving us for Westminster as MP for Sheffield Hallam. He beat the ex-Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
“In the spirit of fairness we would like to invite Nick to have Jared’s job and DJ at West Street Live. His new night CLEGGERS PLAYS POP is waiting for him should he wish to take us up on our offer.
“So get in touch Nick and welcome to the Wussle family.”
It would definitely mark a big career change for every student’s favourite former parliamentarian.
Clegg has been an MP for twelve years, representing the Sheffield Hallam constituency on everything from fees to trees.
It’s clear from the popularity of WSL’s offer that there is the appetite for Clegg to swap coalition for Choco Milkos, and nine grand U-turns for nineties classics.
One thing’s for sure, he’d definitely bring his unique charm to the WSL decks (remember Cleggmania? Life really does come at you fast). How he’d go down with Leave voters and students of Sheffield is unclear.
Unsurprisingly, there is yet to be any response from Nick, although let’s hope he sees the light.
Rumours of a filthy back-to-back set with Tim Farron in Freshers’ Week are sadly unfounded.
