An open air BBQ and beer event is coming to Sheffield on Easter weekend
It promises food, booze, music and even an eating challenge
An open air smoked BBQ food and drinks event is coming to Sheffield across Easter bank holiday weekend.
Called the SMO-Fo Pit-Stop, the event will take place at Summit House car park on Eyre Street from Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April.
It is being catered by Sheffield smoked bar snack creators Smo-Fo, and will be free entry, although for five pounds you can buy a ticket which guarantees entry, as well as includes a drink and a portion of bar snacks.
The Pit Stop will feature a smoked barbecue curated by Smo-Fo founder Simon Barnes, with fresh beef burgers, smoked beef brisket, homemade mac and cheese, Asian chicken, and fresh beef burgers all on offer.
Vegan chilli and other vegetarian treats will also be sold.
For more daring attendees, the Smoked Ghost Chilli Corn Challenge will run across the weekend, which is free to enter for up to five competitors each day.
Entrants will have a set time to eat a pint of Smo-Fo's smoked corn, laced with a ghost chilli – the best time will win a £25 bar tab.
There will be live Americana and blues rock music across the weekend, as well as draft craft beer courtesy of Abbeydale and Sentinel BrewCo.
The idea for the Smo-Fo Pit-Stop came from Simon and Atropos Events' Niall Gordon. Simon is a trained chef and butcher, who has more than 10 years' experience in top end meats and set up Smo-Fo two years ago, becoming immediately renowned for their bar snacks.
If you're in Sheffield over Easter and have a soft spot for a BBQ, you could do worse than getting yourself down to Eyre Street.
