Everything you need to know about Arctic Monkeys’ return to Sheffield

Starting tonight, local heroes Arctic Monkeys will be playing four gigs at Sheffield Arena across this week.

While their most recent album has divided opinion, it is no surprise that all four nights have sold out.

So whether you've got a ticket, or just want to get in on the buzz around Sheffield that will come with these hometown shows, here is everything you need to know as Alex Turner and co return to the Steel City.

They're still doing (most of) the classics

Arctic Monkeys' most recent set lists can be browsed here, and while you can expect a decent chunk of the new album including Four out of Five and Star Treatment, they're also playing indie disco favourites Brianstorm, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, and R U Mine?

Anyone wanting to hear When The Sun Goes Down or Mardy Bum will probably be out of luck, but who knows, they might pull out all the stops, especially for Sheffield.

A themed exhibition has opened up at Kelham Island

Taking place at the Kelham Island Arts Collective studio on Ball Street, a free Arctic Monkeys exhibition opened yesterday, and will be open from 11am until 7pm each day until Sunday. Open to all ages, the exhibition will showcase unseen photos and video from the making of the new album.

Curated by local legend Alex Cooper, who DJs regularly at The Washington and Leadmill, pre-drinks will be taking place at The Frog & Parrot (aka "The Parrot's Beak" referenced in Cornerstone) on Division Street. Just no messing with the smoke alarm…

Cafe Totem is being turned into Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

Whether it's 50p shots with a VIP card, or their brand new range of pizza meal deals, Cafe Totem, which can be found on The Moor, have pulled out all the stops recently. It's no different this week, and they will be decking the place out so you'll think you're in Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino.

The Leadmill will be open after each of the shows

While we wouldn't hold it against you if you fancied some life-ruining West Street Live shots or even a Tiger Works six pound round, Leadmill seems like the most natural post-gig destination – you can expect to hear lots of AM, and much more besides, all throughout the week.

Unofficial after parties will take place straight after the Tuesday and Wednesday gigs, and Friday and Saturday will see Leadmill opening its doors as normal. So get on your dancing shoes and have your regulars cards at the ready if you want to soak up even more indie goodness.
