Mix it up: Halloween Cocktails
Fancy drinking something a little different this Halloween? Let Brizzle’s Cocktail Soc show you how to mix it up tonight (and maybe get mortal in the process)
#1: Bloody Mary
Usually considered a hangover cure, the Bloody Mary is a punchy, ballsy cocktail, hitting you with layers of spice, sweet and sour. If you believe in hair of the dog, save this one for Friday morning!
50ml Vodka
120ml Tomato Juice
15ml Lemon Juice
Half tablespoon Brown Sugar
3 Dashes Worcestershire sauce
2-8 drops Tabasco Sauce
Pinch Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Pinch Celery Salt (doubt this is in ones every-day cupboard, optional)
To serve: Build over plenty of ice, saving the tomato juice till last, and add as much Tabasco Sauce as you can handle!
#2 Zombie
If you can ‘t take the savoury wrath of Mary, try out the Zombie.
However, beware! The fruit is a cunning disguise for such high alcohol content, hence the name.
25ml Dark Rum
25ml White Rum
15ml Overproof Rum
15ml Lime Juice
20ml Golden Falernum (almond, ginger, cloves and allspice syrup)
15ml Cherry Liqueur
25ml Pineapple Juice
10ml Grenadine
To serve: Shake all ingredients with plenty of ice, and strain into a highball glass filled with fresh cubed ice.
#3 Corpse Reviver
Think more refreshing, than fruity, the Corpse Reviver is one for the more refined drinker due to its ingredients. It’s fresh, orangey and dry, with a herbal hint from the absinthe.
25ml Dry Gin
25ml Lemon Juice
25ml Cointreau (or other quality triple sec)
25ml Lillet Blanc (any white wine will do!)
Rinse of Absinthe
To Serve: Swill around and discard of the absinthe in your glass for flavour, then add the pre-shaken other ingredients with crushed ice
