Tributes paid to legendary club owner John Lounge who passed away on Tuesday

‘I’ll make sure to raise that jug of green stuff to the iconic John’

Legendary John Nussbaum, the owner of Lizard Lounge, sadly passed away on Tuesday morning.

Mr Nussbaum, a titanic figure in Bristol’s nightlife, had been battling cancer for some time, according to friends and colleagues.

People as far as the USA paid tribute to the charismatic club owner on Facebook today.

One friend wrote “Devastating news. Lizard Lounge is effectively a second home.”

John was a friend to all who came to Lounge

Another told of how Mr Nussbaum helped her in her quest for love.

“I met the love of my life through you.”

Lizard Lounge has always been seen as a student institution, but that’s not the case. John Nussbaum was the face of a Bristol institution and exuded happiness through the form of cheap booze, cheesy music and a great night out.

Many will miss him dearly and Bristol’s nightlife will never be the same again.

In the words of one friend, “raise a toffee vodka shot to this legend.”
