Speaking to marchers of Bristol’s Reclaim the Night 2015

‘Harassment is not a compliment’

Hundreds of people marched through Bristol to Reclaim the Night.  We spoke to some of them.

Elena and Ilka

“It’s about supporting people who need help, you need a visible structure for them.”

“It’s showing solidarity for people who have experienced horrific things, to let them know they have somewhere to be and people to talk to.”

Elena

“This kind of event is important, these issues should never be set aside.  It doesn’t matter how many people are participating.”

Bovving and Keen

“Women shouldn’t have to be conscious of what they’re wearing on a night out.  It isn’t a sign of consent.”

Briony and Mylene

“I got harassed on Facebook just this morning.”

“Something has to change”

Laura, Student Union Officer

“I helped to organise the March. I believe in ending sexual violence and promoting gender equality.”

Elle and Joy

“All day, all night, safety is a human right.”

“2, 4, 6, 8, no more violence, no more rape.”
