‘Alex Rider’ season two is being filmed at Goldney Hall
Commotion and cameras everywhere!
The second season of the Amazon Prime Video series “Alex Rider” is currently being filmed at Bristol Uni’s own Goldney Hall in Clifton, with production taking place over four to five days, according to Bristol Uni.
The roads have been filled with trailers and trucks over the past few days, and residents were almost certain to see some very busy crew hurrying around. Some students could even hear crew saying “quiet everyone, we’re filming” at the Events Conference entrance.
The Bristol Tab spoke exclusively to the Location Manager of the production who could not reveal much at all, with many details remaining strictly confidential, and she was even unable to confirm what exactly is being filmed and the locations being used. However, news reports and production sources have confirmed that it is “Alex Rider”.
Goldney Hall has previously been the site of Bristol’s very own Skins (2007-2013) and Sherlock (2010-2017).
Almost all production details are entirely secret, with Bristol Uni declining to divulge much information at the request of the production company, and they declined to say whether other university locations would be used for filming.
With regards to Covid-19, extensive protocols have been in place to ensure that students and the film crew are protected. According to Bristol Uni, extensive risk assessments have been carried out by both the University and the filming company, and all requirements have been “met and exceeded”. The Orangery has been the primary site for catering and testing.
The University has also confirmed that the production is “generating valuable income for the university”, which they say will help to make up lost revenue due to the additional costs of Covid-19 over the last 10-11 months.
“Alex Rider” was renewed by Amazon for a second season in November 2020, and production began in the U.S. before Christmas before continuing in the UK in January 2021.
