The one and only Liverpool Advent Calendar

Here are some festive things to keep you going through deadline season

December is an exciting month and advent calendars are acceptable whatever age you are, don't pretend your mum didn't send one in the post. Here is Liverpool's very own advent calendar of events and things to do over Christmas.

1st December: Baltic Weekender

On the first of December my true love sent to me, a Baltic Weekender (Winter) Launch Party. Dance off the winter blues on Kitchen Street to kickstart your Christmas the right way.

2nd December: 80s & 90s Guilty Pleasures

Non-festive fun (for all you die-hard humbugs) can be found at Camp and Furnace. ‘Can’t touch this- 80’s & 90’s pop, dance & guilty pleasures’ may be the answer to all your Grinch-like needs.

3rd December: Christmas Markets

Is it even Christmas without an evening visit to Liverpool’s Christmas Market? Be at St George’s Plateau outside George’s Hall – expect mulled wine, hot and cold food, hot chocolate, craft stalls and gourmet burgers. Simply delightful.

4th December: Scouse Nativity

Spread a little festive cheer, and get down to The Scouse Nativity at Royal Court. Get your tickets quick as it's only running from the 1st – 13th December!

5th December: Quizzes for all

An evening of quizzes for all! Chances are that you're probs a fan of one of these, if not both: Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings quiz nights. Finding the time to attend one of these affordable activities might just ease the seasonal stress of balancing coursework and your sanity.

6th December: Souljam vs. Kayne

Boogie your way through to christmas at Constellation’s ‘Souljam Festive Funk’, an evening that is bound to warm your frosted toes. Alternatively, you might be a fan of Kanye. If that's the case, head straight to The Buyers Club for their event ‘Come all ye faithful: a Kanye Christmas Party’.

7th December: Big Quiz Christmas Special at the Guild

Gather up your favourite pub quiz team and test your Christmas knowledge and maybe have a few pints while you’re there – it is nearly Christmas afterall!

8th December: The Royal Liver Building Christmas Fayre

Head down to the Liver buildings for a bit of Christmas shopping from loads of local businesses and craft stalls. There promises to be prosecco, plus it’s an excuse to shop – what more could you want?

9th December: Liverpool Creatives Christmas Event at the Bombed Out Church

An event filled with local businesses, selling a wide range of products, this is the perfect place to do some Christmas shopping. They will also be taking donations of things like clothes and toiletries for the homeless and less fortunate, so this is a great way to give something back this Christmas.

10th December: Santa Paws at the Baltic Market

This is not a drill – Merseyside Dogs Home is hosting an actual dog Grotto, in which your pets can even meet and get a photo with Santa Paws himself! What an absolute dream come true!

11th December: Wreath Making at ROAD Studios

It costs a tenner, but they throw in the mulled wine, so…

12th December: LOST Christmas Disco: Arts Club

Grab a pair of reindeer antlers and get ready to send off the semester in style, this is guaranteed to be a groovy night out!

13th December: Smithdown Selects Charity Night

Fancy a sick night out all in the name of a good cause? Smithdown Selects is the night for you, featuring DJ’s from some of Liverpool’s hottest nights. The event is taking place at Buyers Club, tickets cost £4 (including the booking fee) from Skiddle with all proceeds going to the University of Liverpool Help the Homeless Society.

14th December: Gin Festival Liverpool Winter 2017

Head over to the Crypt (underneath the Metropolitan Cathedral) and choose from a range of over 100 different gins, as well as there being some very exclusive gins on offer. Tickets cost £10, and each drink is £5 for a single shot of gin, garnish and a Fever-Tree mixer.

15th December: Chibiku Presents J HUS

J HUS, alongside other big grime artists, will be performing at Invisible Wind Factory. J HUS’ debut album “Common Sense” charted at number six in its first week, and this promises to be a huge night. Tickets cost £21.70.

16th December: Friends Quiz at the Bombed Out Church

Arguably the greatest sitcom ever, puts your knowledge of Chandler, Joey, Monica, Phoebe, Rachel and Ross to the test in an attempt to win some great prizes including a £100 bar tab at Baltic Market. Tickets cost £7.

17th December: The Festival of Light Comes to Liverpool

Laser shows, neon balloon drops, UV displays and indoor fireworks. Need I say more? Very Instagrammable.

18th December: The Monday Movie Club – The Nightmare Before Christmas

An intimate showing in the 30 capacity Jacaranda basement, a brand new underground cinema in Liverpool. There are fantastic drinks offers, bean bags and free popcorn! Tickets cost only £4.

19th December: Home Alone Themed Bar, Ghetto Golf

No matter what age you are, the idea of visiting a bar based on one of the most iconic Christmas films is not something to be missed.

20th December: Festive Wonderland at Chavasse Park

Visit the top of Liverpool ONE’s terrace to witness a world of Christmas fun. With rides, attractions and market stalls, there’s something for everyone. Not to mention there’s mulled wine (AGAIN!!).

21st December: Onesie Night

Grab your mates and your best onesie and head to the Brookhouse, with drinks from £1, it’s a fantastic excuse for a Christmas piss up.

22nd December: Tainted Love Christmas Special

If 80’s music is your jam and you want to sing 'Take On Me' at the top of your lungs, then head over to Camp and Furnace for a night of absolute bangers.

23rd December: SNO Garden

From 4:30pm, Camp and Furnace will be transformed into an indoor winter wonderland. With an array of Christmas treats including a silent disco, a collection of festive themed cocktails and a Bad Santa’s Grotto, so you can find out how naughty or nice you’ve been.

24th December: Karaoke Night at Woody’s Sports and Karaoke Bar

Sing yourself in Christmas Day with the likes of ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. What’s not to love?
