Shoes Glorious Shoes

A soleful insight into the world of shoes. StilettoUs know what you think…

The other day I heard somebody say something absolutely atrocious, they said ‘Heels are just heels’, I nearly spat out my drink. Heels aren’t just heels!! Every heel is different, suited to outfits and events.

The Wedge

The wedge is great teamed with a maxi dress or a jumpsuit. It’s very summery and very easy to walk in, so if the suns out and Climax at the SU is looking like it’s on the cards after a whole day of revising (or watching the Sex and the City boxset.. for that matter..) then please be sure to bring out the WEDGE.

Oh and if your still stuck in the nineties like a lot of us, then the wedge is perfect for allowing you to channel your inner spice girl, can somebody say Zig-a-zig ah?

The Thigh High

You know what they say, thigh is the limit!

Got a 9-5 day at Newton?  Then thigh boots are a YES. Not only are they chic but they add an edge to any outfit. PLUS there’s so many see-through rooms in that building for goodness sake, it’s like everybody is looking at you, so – at least if your running late to your 2pm seminar your looking kinda cute.

What to wear: Pair with leather leggings or even better a mini dress accompanied with either a MAC or a cape.

The Croc

Bet you had to read twice cos you thought it said ‘Crocs’ no, no what do you take me for?

So your friends off your course who you kinda-sort of- talk to have dragged you to Quid’s in on a Thursday for a ‘few’, and you don’t want to rock up looking like a basic bitch, then the croc is your number one. Everybody needs a good animal print heel, whether its crocodile or a snakeskin look.

What to Wear: Team with ripped jeans or some black culottes and a structured shirt to add some flava #NoCraigDavid

The Barely There Heel

The Barely there is what I call the I- only-have-a-one-hour-seminar-today-but -I –kinda-Wanna look-hot- attending-it, kinda heel.

Having to attend a one hour seminar in the late afternoon sucks, so might as well make up for in looking H-O-T.

They not only make your legs look slender and longer but they add a touch of class to any outfit. It’s great for summer nights and chilling at the Gooseberry Bush (Phwoar, the Nottingham locals will love it!) or even if you and your friends fancy a late lunch at Turtle Bay.

What to Wear: They go with everything!

The Court

You have a lecture at Waverley on Wednesday at 11 and don’t Wanna look like a heap of crap because everybody who seems to be in there looks like they’ve just walked out of London Fashion week, and you just, don’t. Then the court is what you need. It’s such a sophisticated and classic staple shoe, and brings a touch of elegance to any and every outfit.

I told you didn’t I.. heels are NOT just heels.

They are part of a cult, the sooner you join the better – And who says because you’re a student you can’t look a million dollars?
