Enactus NTU do JAILBREAK

If you haven’t already heard of Enactus NTU, they are a group of students here at Trent who create social enterprise businesses and projects within Nottingham and world-wide to empower those in need.

This weekend, Enactus students will be taking part in Jailbreak, venturing out using only their persuasion skills to get as many miles away from campus. They will hitchhike in cars, get on trains and perhaps even get sponsored to get on a plane – all without spending any money.

The three teams taking part are called the Brackenhurst Bandits, Rebellious Rogues, and the Pudding Squad.

The Brackenhurst Bandits

Rebellious Rogue team member and Enactus NTU exec, Abigail Sheppard, said: “I am really excited to test my influencing and negotiation skills whilst Shanice and I are out on the road. As well as using our initiative by getting as far away as from the UK as possible.”

Teams from other universities have got as far as San Diego and Australia.

Enactus NTU Vice-President Ryan Murphy told us, ‘this is a really exciting event, we can’t wait to see how far away the teams get and what adventures they get up to! All the money raised goes to our amazing projects that work to empower real people. Enactus NTU want to maximise the impact that we have in Nottingham and world-wide and this is a really fun way to raise awareness of what we do!’

The Pudding Squad

Enactus NTU currently has three on-going projects.

CORE uses recycled coffee beans to make a body scrub and works with vulnerable women in Nottingham.

SEED works with the Refugee Forum to grow food in urban spaces and provide safe spaces for the community.

ARC works in Ghana and Ethiopia to create a sustainable village, growing fruit such as mangos and shipping them here to be sold the UK.
