Ocean Demotion: Why I don’t like everyone’s favourite nightclub

You won’t like this

| UPDATED

I’ve had enough of everyone loving Ocean. I’ve had enough of reading in articles about why Trent is better than Uni Of that it’s because of our “Ocean Devotion”.

Now this is probably going to make me hated by a lot of Trent students but I do not like Ocean. I never have and I never will. I know I’m not alone, neither do many of my friends. It’s a dirty, sweaty, cheesy tune making disaster of a night out. Why do so many people put themselves through it?

I don’t care that Wednesday night may be moved to the SU, I don’t care that they aren’t reintroducing the Golden Ticket, I don’t cry over Ocean.

The only thing commendable is the effort people put into outfits.

I’m in my second year, and I’ve only been three times, my flat mate hasn’t even been once, and I haven’t remembered any of them. Now many people may think of this as a successful night out but to me it’s scary. How can, not remembering how you made it home, neither can your friends, be successful?

We were meant to be newspapers, seeing as we’re journalism students

What about the music, I mean, it makes me cringe at the thought of all the boys removing their shirts to the Baywatch theme tune and whipping me in the face.

I do not want to hear I’m a Barbie girl on my night out. Nor do I want to do the YMCA dance or have a Frozen singalong.

Now can we stop giving all of the Trent students a bad reputation, we don’t all love Ocean.
