Arrests made after city centre assault

The victim remains in a serious condition


A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in the city centre on Wednesday morning.

The man is being held on suspicion of causing intentional grievous bodily harm.

Police were called to Upper Parliament Street at 3:45am on Wednesday morning where the attack took place.

The victim, who is also 21, remains in a serious condition at Queens Medical centre, the police say.

The street was cordoned off from Hallam Jewellery shop to Haarts estate agents while a forensic team examined the area for any clues.

Police would not confirm if the victim is a student.
