Prue Leith, an honorary University of Warwick graduate, is set to be the new judge on the Great British Bake Off.

It has been confirmed that Leith, “along with others”, has been “part of the selection process for the new Channel 4 version of Bake Off”.

A spokesman added: “At this point Channel 4 and Love Productions have not yet confirmed their final line up.”

76-year old Leith is a  restaurateur, writer and food campaigner. She ran a Michelin star restaurant, founded cookery college Leith’s School of Food and Wine in 1975, and is also a successful novelist and newspaper columnist. She later opened a college in South Africa.

Her experience in television presenting also makes her an ideal choice, as she was a judge on the BBC show Great British Menu.

Apparently, bosses see her as a “like for like” replacement for Mary.

Prue’s honours include an OBE, awarded in 1989, the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year award, which she received in 1990, and a CBE, awarded in 2010.
