Choons to shelter you from the storm.

So the worst storm in ten years is coming. You’re stuck at home, or the dreaded library. But fear-not, we are here to save you from your misery with some essential tunes to shelter you from the minging Northern weather. Be warned, they might ‘blow’ you away.

Oh pathetic fallacy.

Magpie by Khushi.

So the weather seems to reflect your down-beat mood. Been broken up with? Had a shit day? Revel in your misery with this forlorn song about longing for ‘somebody.’ With only 2,200 likes on facebook but already supporting London Grammar, be sure you catch these guys whilst they’re under the radar – before they explode!

October Song by Nico Stai

It’s end of October, it’s getting dark… time to become a social recluse.

Get under that Duvet – the storm has begun, and it’s grim outside.

Esmeralda by Ben Howard

This video is surely prophetic about the weather that is come! But no doubt perfect for the Durham Surfing Society who will be heading onto the ‘black sea’ that Ben depicts.

Stockholm by Jonathon Johannson

At least it’s not raining in Stockholm…

Jonathon’s bruised emotionalism will cut into your student-life-centric mind and transport you away for a while. Grab a café tierre, put your teeth up on your budget Ikea table, and stare out the rain-filled window as if you’re some pensive-pseudo philosopher or something.

Down In The Valley by The Head and The Heart

If you’re looking like a drowned rat, time to grab a ‘pick-me-up’ cuppa & put your feet up.

This number will take you by ‘storm.’ Your toes will be tapping before you get to the bridge.

It’s raining outside #MakingBananaPancakesPretendLikeIt’sTheWeekend

Sweet Pea by Amos Lee

Change out of that offensive rain-proof poncho, which should only ever be worn on Geography field trips, and pop on an apron. Get your bake-on, make some pancakes, and pretend it is the weekend with this in the background. It will lift your mood in no time!

Come on you’ve been inside far too long – it’s time to hit up the Duzzah Nightlife. Let these tracks help you reach for the beer jacket and pluck up the courage to go outside.

City of Dreams by Dirty South feat. Alesso

Get to 1.30 and hear this beauty drop.

Trumpsta (Djuro Remix) by Contiez

What da f*** happened to summer? #PostSummerBlues

Lila Wolken by Marteria, Yasha & Miss Platnum

This video is a gentle reminder of the endless craziness of our youth. Go and reminisce on all those balmy summer days of pool parties, and hazy hours sitting in the sun.

When your on the verge of buying a S.A.D lamp due to lack of sunshine…

‘Rise Up The Sun’ by Dancing Years.

We met up with Dancing years, a band silently taking the music world by storm, on a rooftop in Durham and filmed them playing this beautiful number.

With a string of national tour-dates; support slots for Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Dry The River, and being chosen as one of The Independent’s IoS Sound of 2013, it seems these Leeds lads have finally begun to come into their own. Uplifting yet calming, Dancing Years are like the thrice-removed long-distant cousin(s) of Damien Race and Sigur Ros.

‘Why does it always rain on me?’ you curse as you leave the house umbrella-less
