What’s Hot: Week 3

We’ve pulled together a list of the places to be in Durham this week. Miss out at your own peril.

Durham University Charity Fashion Show

There is only one place to be seen this week, the annual Durham University Charity Fashion Show. One of the most highly anticipated events on the social calendar, if you don’t already have a ticket then you’ll struggle to get on a table, unless you’re willing to beg. Jaw-dropping underwear walks and a wild Saturday night after party are sure to be in store.

Shake at Klute

Monday night, £3 on the door, all night.

“We didn’t go outside for one cigarette, it was that good” said one tar-ridden Third year and if that doesn’t convince you to get down to Klute tonight then nothing else will. If you like to a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie – then Shake is the place to be tonight.

Alcoholics Anonymous

North Road Methodist Church, Friday at 7.15pm

If Gospel Project, Loveshack Wednesday and getting inordinately hammered are your only respite from the horror of your degree and the endless darkness then this is for you. This open meeting is sure to cleanse the soul of the indiscretions keeping you up and the addiction that’s keeping you down.

The Invitations

Durham’s finest band are back at Fabio’s, ready to raise the roof on the harem of cheap cocktails, loyal fans, aspiring couples and vivacious pre-drinkers that will inevitably make up the crowd. Playing an eclectic mix of funk, soul, chart hits and pop classics and with free entry at the door this is a great way to start a Monday night.
