Street Style: The best (and worst) of Durham

Take note stash wearers, are the trackies AND mid-layer really necessary? Natalia’s accesorising is perfect too, with the pom-pom beanie being ideal for these freezing days in Durham and in keeping with this year’s winter trends. The effortless look is topped off with silver jewellery and a cute, Jobis backpack.

Meg, second year, Hatfield, Philosophy

We love Meg’s colour coordination. The black, white and grey are brightened up by the blue fringe-hemmed denim skirt. She keeps her wardrobe up to date with a striped jumper from Durham’s new H&M store and wraps up warm with her dad’s cashmere scarf. The outfit is rounded off with black chelsea boots, perfect for those Durham cobbles.

Jacqui, third year, Hatfield, English Lit

Jacqui matched her white trainers with an Adidas jumper to create a sporty yet stylish number. The tartan print skirt and bright red lipstick adds a splash of colour to the predominantly monochrome outfit which is put together with a gorgeous oversized black coat.

Claire, second year, Hild Bede, Chemistry

We spotted Claire in Elvet Riverside looking super chic in her mini skirt and polo neck combo. The oversized, mustard scarf which is vital for a cold day in Durham brightens up the outfit and also picks out the yellow in her checkered skirt. Her black brogues and backpack also add a preppy feel to her look.

Rachelle, second year, St Aidan’s, Combined Honours in Arts

Rachelle layers three different shades of red to pull off this colour number. We love the maroon coat and white rope sling backpack with the bold red skirt peeking through! She also rocks the black flatforms which are essential for the icy weather.

Mariam, first year, Grey, PPE

Mariam nails Autumn grunge with one of the best outfits we’ve seen this week. The black skinnies and chelsea boots are paired with a season must-have biker jacket to create this effortless look. The bold yellow jumper brightens up the  number which is finished off with a statement gold and black necklace.

Kate, fresher, Aidan’s, Spanish

Kate is crowned our style queen this week as the best dressed gal in Durham! The black dungarees and the grey polo neck top are both top trends this season and Kate matches them with a classic pair of New Balance trainers. The maroon, fur coat keeps this outfit not only super stylish but also winter friendly.

Digby, third year, Cuth’s, Geology

This is Digby’s fourth appearance in The Tab’s worst dressed. The combination of three distinctly clashing patterns is just not doing it for us. Muddy Timberlands paired with the open shirt don’t quite achieve the sexy pirate look he was going for.
