These are the winners of The Tab Durham’s snow photography competition

Worth risking the Red weather warning for

The Beast from the East has been sweeping the streets of Durham. Lectures are cancelled, Tesco's shelves are bare and even Lloyds was closed.

But some of you have braved the blizzard to get that perfect shot of Durham in the snow. Thank you for sending in your snaps – these are our three favourites!

3rd Place: Ruari Chambers

Image may contain: Hood, Clothing, Cloak, Snow, Outdoors, Person, People, Human

We loved the action, the yellow, the life.

2nd Place: Helen Paton

Image may contain: Urban, Town, Street, Road, City, Alleyway, Alley, Brick, Tower, Building, Bell Tower, Architecture

You can tell Helen has an amazing Instagram game.

1st Place: Kelsie Whittemore

Because we couldn't not love the classic Durham shot.

Congratulations to The Tab Durham's Photographer of the Year, Kelsie Whittemore! The true Beast from the (North) East.

When asked for comment, Kelsie, a third-year Geogrpahy student at Collingwood, told The Tab: "In case you didn't know it snowed. I’d like to thank the real beast from the east, Muni Hussain, for convincing me to enter this competition."

Thanks to everyone who fought the Beast from the East to get that perfect shot of Durham in the snow! Hope the insta-likes were worth the frostbite.
