Following Griffin Shelton as the King of Navarre and his male companions Owen Kennedy and Kishore Walker, who take a vow of celibacy to dedicate themselves to a life of study and academia; all women are consequently banned from the court so as to not distract the noblemen.
In classic Shakespearean manner, things don’t go to plan as the arrival of the Princess of France with her ladies in waiting brings comedy, romance and mayhem along with mistaken identities, swapped letters and disguises.

As director, Barney Mercer brings his comedic expertise and background to the play, with a keen eye for pace and staging (given the limitations of stage and set) meaning the action is never static and language flows smoothly. Along with the all-star talented cast with experience in a range of shows from hard hitting dramas to musicals, Mercer will provide a delightful new angle to the sometimes intimidating playwright.

The production also incorporates music and dance to further capture the authenticity of a Shakespearean comedy as well as adding to the sense of enjoyment and fun. Under the musical direction of Georgie Proctor, the cast have been working hard learning songs as well as lines.
With Fellow's Garden as a setting, the audience will be transported from busy Durham to the sunny Mediterranean in the blink of an eye.
